High School Tips 10 From Janelle Nickerson, an eleventh grade English teacher at Bay Port High School in the Howard-Suamico School District, just outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin: ìTeaching juniors provides many make-up nightmares! I think juniors should be responsible for their own work and absences and I don't have time in 45 minutes to get them all caught up as well as teaching the day's lesson. So, at the front of my room I post an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper each night that details what went on in class that day. Bulleted items are discussion items, and starred items are things I collected, or things they must do for homework. It's much easier to point kids to that board than to take time out of class to explain it to each student.î |
